Quillwork/Porcupine Quill Embroidery
Porcupine quill embroidery or quillwork is one of the oldest north american decorative arts, it is essentially the art of sewing and folding porcupine quills onto leather or wool to create patterns and pictographs. This can be applied to bags, clothing, mocassins, knife sheaths, robes, or whatever.
The art of quillwork is dying at an unbelievable rate and I am working to maintain it, and the only way that I know to do that is to teach it. Classes are limited to ten people so if you are interested it may be advisable to get in quickly. During the first class students will recieve the best book on the market about quillwork, thread, needles, beeswax, one ounce of quills (which will last a very long time) and leather to work with.
